Old sources even
mentioned the five monasteries on the territory of Krajina.
Bukovo Monastery, Dusica in Dušanovac, Koroglas monastery near
the village of Miloševo, Holy Trinity Monastery, or Blatsko
west of the village and monastery Kobišnica door. Today there
are still existing monasteries Vratna and Bukovo, and damaged,
but with preserved walls, Manstir Koroglaš.
Bukovo monastery is located three kilometers western
from Negotin surrounded by woods. It is believed that it was
built during the regency of King Milutin, in the end of XIII
or the beginning of XIV century and that it was built by
Archbishop Nicodemus. According to the architectural and
stylistic features, monastery church of St. Nicholas has
similarities with the Moravian style, the type of building
which is characteristic for The Serbian Despotate (XV
century). The oldest and the most valuable frescos are: Mother
of God with Christ - in the firmament and Archangels Mihajlo
fresco at the entrance to the church. Last painting layer was
made in 1902. in the Romantic design by Steva Todorović.
Frescoes were painted by associate, the painter from Knjaževac,
Milisav Markovic. Bell was donated to the monastery of Knjaz
Milos Obrenovic, in the 1830s.
The Vratna
monastery is located about 40 km away from the
Negotin, at the bottom of the famous Vratna stone gate. It was
founded in the XIV century and the part of monastery was built
in the 1415th, when the duke Šarban from Struza near Bucharest
left the record of rebuilding which was deleted in time, but
recorded in 1856 by headmaster Genadije. In 1813th the
monastery was burned, and again renewed in 1817. Today, it is
an active female monastery. Church of the Vratna monastery is
dedicated to the Lord's Ascension (Spasovdan).
Koroglaš monastery is located in the vicinity
of Negotin, near the village of Miloševo. No reliable data
regarding who and when built it, but it is assumed that it was
built by King Milutin in early XIV century. National tradition
says that it is the site of burial of Marko Kraljevic who,
after being wounded, swim across Danube from Wlachia after the
battle of the Rovinama. The monastery Koroglaš was built in
his honor. The monastery was vivid, but they only save the
remains of frescoes. In addition to the church is the medieval
necropolis, which was only partially explored.
