values - Danube
Danube ( from the Celts of "River" or the
Latin "Danubius" - glory of heaven) is 2788km long and the
second largest river in Europe. Joining the river Berge and
Brigah which spring up in the south-eastern slopes of the
mountain Švarcvald (Germany), a large delta inflows into the
Black Sea. In Serbia Danube enters on it’s 1433 km (Serbian -
Hungarian border) and flows through Serbia in the total length
of 588 km, and in the municipality of Negotin 31 kilometer.
Danube is considered the most important European river,
because it represents most vital waterway and most important
river traffic in Europe. It is significant as the cheapest way
to transport goods from Western Europe to the Black Sea, and
further to the Middle East. Assessed by the European Commission
waterway through our land was in the 6th and 7th of the highest
class. By international standards, there was built about 80 km
hydro-structure.
Navigating the Danube, you learn
about the history of cities and regions, as well as the
luxurious nature, which creates a pleasant and unsolicited
excitement. All this can be seen in the monumental buildings,
historical monuments, a rich museum, or various folklore. The
preventive sights of Danube are its own bay, sandbar, rich
vegetation, dense forests, numerous armbands ... The habitat of
variety plant and animal world, particularly attracted the
attention of tourists, especially hunters and fishermen.
But the Danube is not only the river. This is the exciting
world of authentic natural beauty, the keeper of the oldest
traces of civilization, witness of the many minatory conflicts
of empires for control over Europe. Danube connects more than 80
million people living in nine countries, and speaks a dozen
languages, belonging to different religions, caring for their
historical memory, its art, customs, myths and legends.
